The Two Fatalities Named in the Ivy League School Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Hunt for Perpetrator.

Two students who died in the recent mass shooting in Providence were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the release by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual questioned in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was described as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

She served as vice-president of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Karoline Leavitt also shared condolences online, remarking: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was confirmed by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine other people were injured in the weekend shooting in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 arrested in a police operation at a lodging about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and pursue a different angle, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter began shooting inside a classroom in the building on over the weekend, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a handgun, a police source reported to the news agency.

Officers that raided the hotel found two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the suspect was detained, the news agency reported.

Those Hurt

Among those wounded, a single scholar was released from the hospital, stated Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Further Tributes

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only during her upbringing... but at Brown she was a radiant presence in that specific location as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by Umurzokov’s death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to his relatives, loved ones, and peers and mourn the loss of his promising future.”
