Latest Processing Facility Attack Shows 'Absolutely No Safe Places in Russia's Distant Backlines'
Ukrainian drones have struck Russia's oil facility in Ufa, positioned around 1,400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, resulting in explosions and a fire, according to a source in the Ukrainian Security Service.
This constitutes the 3rd SBU far-reaching assault in Bashkortostan in the last month. Those attacks show that there are no protected areas in the distant backlines of the Russian Federation.
Zelenskyy Calls On Trump to Facilitate Truce in the Conflict
President Zelenskyy appealed to President Trump to broker peace in Ukraine over a telephone conversation on Saturday.
"Provided that a hostilities can be ended in one region, then certainly other wars can be ended as well, encompassing the Russian aggression," Zelenskyy remarked, hailing Trump's "outstanding" Middle East peace initiative and urging the President to influence the Russian government into discussions.
Moscow's Assaults Claim Victims in the Country
Moscow's assaults on Ukrainian territory resulted in the deaths of several civilians on Saturday and caused blackouts to sections of Ukraine's south Odesa area, as stated by authorities in Ukraine.
A pair of individuals were killed within a religious building in Kostyantynivka when it was targeted, per municipal sources.
In Russia's border region of Belgorod, a vehicle operator was lost his life by a Ukrainian strike, according to municipal sources.
Energy Restoration Efforts in Kyiv
Work continued on Saturday to recover electricity in the Ukrainian capital, after strikes by Moscow.
Power had been restored to over 800,000 inhabitants by the weekend and the largest power firm stated the primary work to recover electricity was concluded though some outages continued.
Air Defence Efforts and Drone Interceptions
The Ukrainian anti-aircraft systems intercepted or jammed 54 out of 78 total Russian drones deployed against the country during the night, the military reported on the weekend.
Russia's defence ministry stated it shot down 42 Ukrainian drones over Russian territory.
Cuban Government Denies Allegations of Sending Soldiers to the War
The Cuban government on Saturday refuted US claims it has deployed military personnel to participate in the hostilities, while declaring officials in Havana "are without accurate information about citizens of Cuba" engaged "voluntarily" or "in the military forces of the conflicting parties".
The foreign ministry in the capital said 26 Cuban citizens had been convicted to prison terms ranging from 5 to 14 years for mercenary involvement since last September when reports spread of individuals being sent to the battlefield in the conflict.
Surrender Initiative Program Discloses Details on Cuban Enlistment
The program, a official Kyiv program that urges adversaries to surrender, said in spring: "We reliably know the identities and information of one thousand and twenty-eight Cuban nationals who enlisted with the Russian military in 2023-2024."
The Cuban authorities said of those who might be involved: "There is no doubt that no individual has the support, dedication, or authorization of the government in Havana for their actions."
Family members of Cuban nationals who departed to Russia in 2023 told international media at the time that their family members had been tricked into joining through promotions on social media.
