Followers Call for Custody of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are urging that a person who breached a barricade and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past photographers and lunging at Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was scheduled to be present on Friday morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account features recordings of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Steps should be implemented applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," commented an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another response on Instagram.
Several fans also questioned security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals called for digital services to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage shared widely, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Numerous of attendees had congregated in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had queued for as long as eight hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the popular theatrical musical Wicked, which centers on the unlikely bond between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning film of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten award recognitions, earning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
