19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

This represents his first championship after the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different events.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, including in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive approach and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
